Fort Hood Retiree Appreciation Day Photo Booth at the Phantom Warrior Center
Custom military props, two AI experiences, and the care behind every guest photo in Central Texas.
The best moments at a photo booth often happen when a guest sees the finished image. At the Phantom Warrior Center on September 18, 2026, Amethyst Star Ventures joined Fort Hood’s 51st Annual Retiree Appreciation Days with a hosted photo booth experience built around the people being celebrated. Guests posed with friends, represented their military branches, and laughed at the sight of themselves flying alongside an eagle. We were honored to create those moments for retirees and their families in Central Texas.
Military photo booth props made the experience personal
We designed props for different branches of service so guests could hold the one that represented their military connection. We also brought an America’s 250th birthday prop and a Captain America shield. Watching people choose what felt right for them was part of the fun. Our hosted photo booth experiences are shaped around each event and its guests. At this celebration, that meant personal details alongside plenty of room to play.
Two AI photo experiences, and room to choose
One AI transformation placed guests in a Declaration of Independence inspired scene with colonial clothing. The other turned them into superheroes flying with an eagle. Many retirees were delighted by the colonial clothing, but we knew that period of American history could feel different to different people. One guest told us clearly that the Declaration image was offensive to them. We listened, made a new image using the superhero and eagle experience, and gave the guest a photo they wanted. The day was about celebrating them, and their reaction mattered.
Why one superhero photo mattered so much
Another gentleman told us he would see his twin grandsons the next day. He could not wait to show them a picture of Grandpa flying like a superhero with an eagle. But his AI image would not generate, even after several new photos and repeated attempts. A second Black guest experienced the same repeated failure while images for other guests generated. We do not know why those attempts failed, and it concerned us. After the event, I kept working on the first gentleman’s image, got help to generate it, and arranged to send his photos to Walgreens for one hour printing before his trip. I have not heard how his grandsons reacted, but I hope they enjoyed seeing Grandpa as a superhero.
Care continued after the booth closed
When the printer ran out of paper, a few guests missed their prints during the roll change. Once printing resumed, we worked out who was still waiting and carried those photos to their tables. For some retirees, another trip back to the booth would have been difficult. When one gentleman came back after we had packed up, I offered to print his photo at home and mail it to him.
Those moments are what I remember most. The props and AI transformations brought laughter, and making sure guests received a photo they could enjoy and take home mattered just as much.
